The 5 Best Gifts to Put in an Easter Basket Besides Candy
By: Doug Wilson
With Easter a few weeks away parents are starting to wonder what to put in their child’s Easter Basket. My daughter is two years old and I was thinking this same question. However, I was thinking what I can put in her Easter Basket besides candy? If you have read my blog posts before, you will know that I am trying to lose weight and eat cleaner. This goes along with what foods I feed my daughter as well.
On this journey I have started following fitness minded people on social media. So, I turned to them for helping me find other items to put in my daughter’s Easter Basket besides candy. The top five suggestions of what to put in her Easter Basket are below:
-
Gardening
- Gloves
- Most hardware stores have cute printed gloves. I will be looking for some Princess ones.
- Seed Packets
- Tools
- Gloves
-
Stickers
- Address Labels
- You know the free ones you get in the mail? My daughter loves playing with these.
- Dollar Store Stickers
- No need in spending a lot of money for name brand stickers, they will not last long anyhow.
- Address Labels
-
Book
- Something to read
- My wife and I have started giving our daughter a book for Christmas every year. We are going to incorporate that into all holidays going forward. These are times for learning experiences.
- Color
- Easter Basket Coloring book! My daughter loves to color/draw, just make sure you have washable crayons, ink, marker, etc.
- Something to read
-
Fruit
- Dried
- Pick up some in the aisle over from the candy…you know, next to the raisons.
- Homemade Fruit Rolls
- If you child is like mine they love fruit rollups. However, they are expensive and have food coloring and other unnatural ingridents. So, one of the suggestions I received was to make your own. Here is a receipe that I found on DisneyFamily.com
- Dried
-
Bubbles
- Physical Exercise
- You can blow the bubbles and your child can run after them.
- Mental Exercise
- If your child is having an off day OR if YOU are having an off day, then blowing bubbles can help.
- According to sensoryprocessing.info “Blowing bubbles is an activity enjoyed by most children and it makes them breathe a little deeper automatically. This results in more muscle activity in the trunk which in turn results in more awareness of posture and movement of the trunk.”
- Plus, breathing deeper will help you relax and focus
- Physical Exercise
If you are doing an Easter Egg hunt, then boil your eggs and decorate them. Either dye or draw on them with crayons or use stickers. One of the suggestions I received was to put coins (make sure the kids do not swallow them) and/or stickers in the eggs.
